New low-energy swing door operator a global effort

The development of the new Besam SW100 is the result of a truly global initiative within the ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems Division involving subsidiaries in the US, Sweden and China.

Besam U.S. is experiencing good market feedback on its new electro-mechanical low-energy operator, the SW100, which is expected to become a very competitive and successful product within its segment.

The development of SW100 is the result of a truly global initiative within the ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems Division involving subsidiaries in the US, Sweden and China. While the product was developed specifically for the North American market, where accessibility regulations have created a need to automate light-traffic swing doors, it’s now being sold in the UK and Netherlands as well.

Product Manager Bertil Skogum says the SW100 will eventually be available in all markets where Besam is present.

“This product marks the first time we’ve developed something for the U.S. that is now being sold in Europe, rather than the other way around,” Bertil says. “It’s an excellent addition to our portfolio because its low-energy output requires fewer safety sensors for safe operation, making it a very affordable way to automate a door.”

A comprehensive market requirement specification was developed with input from Besam distributors in North America. Entrance Systems engineers in Sweden and China designed the SW100, with extensive input from the Division’s North American engineering team.

The microprocessor-controlled SW100 operator is one of the most silent and intelligent swing door operators available on the market today. It has many versatile features and can be integrated with security systems, card readers, etc.
